What Hoshi collects
When you create an account, Hoshi stores account details handled through Supabase Auth, including your email address and sign-in provider. Your session is stored securely on your device through SecureStore.
Hoshi stores profile information you add, including username, display name, bio, avatar, and banner. Avatar, banner, post, and cover-related images may be stored with Supabase Storage.
What you create in the app
Hoshi stores your lists, watch progress, ratings, reviews, discussions, comments, reactions, follows, blocks, notification preferences, watchlists, bug reports, and related social activity so the app can show your profile, feeds, title pages, notifications, and statistics.
Some activity is public by design, including public profiles, reviews, discussions, comments, reactions, follows, and public watchlists. Private watchlists are intended to stay visible only to you unless you make them public.
Imports and title metadata
Hoshi uses public AniList data for anime and manga titles, covers, banners, descriptions, genres, episode counts, chapters, season information, airing data, and related metadata. Hoshi may cache title data and proxy some cover images so user activity can attach to stable local title records.
If you use MyAnimeList import, Hoshi reads the anime XML export you select, parses it locally, shows a preview, and only applies matched entries after you confirm the import.
Notifications
If you allow push notifications, Hoshi stores an Expo push token for your device, installation metadata such as app version and device model, and your notification preferences. Hoshi uses those preferences to decide which activity can send push alerts. You can change preferences in the app or disable notifications through iOS.
Purchases and Hoshi Plus
Hoshi uses RevenueCat to manage subscriptions, restore purchases, and receive purchase lifecycle events from Apple or Google. Hoshi stores subscription entitlement status in Supabase so Plus features can work across sessions.
Hoshi uses your Hoshi user ID as the RevenueCat app user ID so purchase events can be matched to your account.
Analytics and ads
Hoshi uses PostHog analytics to understand app usage, screen navigation, sign-in state, onboarding completion, feature reliability, import results, and purchase-related flows. Hoshi should not send raw review text, post text, comment text, bios, emails, tokens, import XML contents, or private media URLs to analytics.
Hoshi uses Google AdMob to show advertising in the free version of the app. Google may process advertising-related data, including device, ad interaction, diagnostics, and approximate location signals, as described by Google's own policies. Hoshi Plus removes ads for active Plus members.

Account deletion and contact
You can request account deletion from Settings. Current behavior anonymizes your profile, removes social connections, removes notification and push alert records, and signs out this device. Some public content, such as reviews, discussions, and comments, may remain under an anonymized account so existing conversations still make sense to other users.

Terms summary
Hoshi is a social anime and manga tracking app under active development. Do not use Hoshi to harass people, impersonate others, spam, or post content you do not have the right to share. Spoiler labels and discussion scopes are product tools to help other fans, but you are responsible for marking spoilers accurately.
